Housecall Pro vs ServiceTitan (2026): prices, what each does better, and where a shop outgrows Housecall Pro
- Deepsel is our product. It appears in one labeled section near the end, and it is not the answer to the Housecall Pro vs ServiceTitan question. It runs beside Housecall Pro and has no ServiceTitan integration.
- Housecall Pro publishes its prices. ServiceTitan doesn't, so every ServiceTitan dollar figure below is tagged as an analyst estimate or an owner report, linked and dated.
- Every claim about what breaks, or what someone paid, links to the thread, review or help article it came from.
Housecall Pro vs ServiceTitan comes down to shop size. Housecall Pro publishes its prices: $59, $149 or $299 a month billed annually, no contract, 14-day trial.1 ServiceTitan is quote-only; analysts and owners report $245-500 per technician per month, a $5,000-15,000 implementation fee and a 12-month minimum.5, 6, 8 Under four trucks, Housecall Pro wins on cost and setup time. Past that, ServiceTitan's dispatch, reporting and membership module start earning the bill.
These two get compared because one feeds the other. Housecall Pro says it serves over 45,000 home-service businesses, most of them small enough that five users covers the crew.20 ServiceTitan ended its fiscal 2026 with about 10,800 active customers and $961 million in revenue,21 which works out to roughly $89,000 per customer per year. Different animals. And yet nearly every Housecall Pro shop that grows past a handful of trucks gets a ServiceTitan demo, and a steady stream of ServiceTitan shops under four trucks turn up on Reddit asking how to get back out.
One warning before the table. Two of the comparison pages that outrank this one quote Housecall Pro prices that aren't on its pricing page anymore: one has it starting at $49 a month,27 another lists Essentials at $129 per user.28 I pulled both vendors' pages today. The numbers below are what they said on September 7, 2026.

Housecall Pro vs ServiceTitan pricing: the real total for a 3-truck shop
Take a 3-truck HVAC shop: the owner runs calls, two techs, one office manager. Four logins. Housecall Pro Essentials covers them inside its five included users. ServiceTitan counts three technicians and asks about the office on the demo form.2
| Line item | Housecall Pro Essentials | Housecall Pro Max | ServiceTitan Essentials (estimate) | ServiceTitan The Works (estimate) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Software, per month | $1491 | $2991 | $900-1,200 (3 techs at $300-400)5, 6, 7 | $1,200-1,500 (3 techs at $400-500)5, 6, 7 |
| Software, per year | $1,788 | $3,588 | $10,800-14,400 | $14,400-18,000 |
| Implementation, one-time | $0 | $0, onboarding specialist included1 | $5,000-15,0006 | $5,000-15,0006 |
| Contract | Month to month or annual1 | Month to month or annual1 | 12 months minimum5, 6 | 12 months minimum5, 6 |
| Membership module included | No | Yes1 | No | Yes2 |
| Year one, software plus implementation | $1,788 | $3,588 | $15,800-29,400 | $19,400-33,000 |
Card processing sits on top of both columns. Housecall Pro's floor is 2.59%, so $20,000 a month in card payments costs about $518 a month.1 ServiceTitan doesn't publish a rate.24 I left processing out of the table because I can't price one side of it. Assume it's similar and the ratio holds: ServiceTitan's first year runs nine to eighteen times Housecall Pro Essentials, and year two, with the implementation fee gone, is still six to ten times.
The membership columns are the ones to read twice. If the reason you're pricing ServiceTitan is its membership module, you are comparing The Works against Housecall Pro Max, top package against top tier: $3,588 a year against $19,400-33,000. Both vendors gate memberships at the top. Only one of them charges a used truck for it. Line-item detail for each is on the Housecall Pro pricing and ServiceTitan pricing pages.
Where ServiceTitan is ahead of Housecall Pro
ServiceTitan is the more capable system, and the people who pay for it say so. The advantages cluster in four places: the dispatch board and call booking, the pricebook, the reporting, and the membership module.2, 22 All four assume there's an office to use them.
Start with the phones. A tech whose company ran ServiceTitan while the boss shopped for something cheaper, November 2022: "Call recording is great for ST. We do have customers that say they didn't call but I can always download the call and email it to the customer."11 Housecall Pro's phone features are add-ons priced off the page; its pricing page lists CSR AI call answering with no number.1
Reporting is the gap owners name most. An owner advising a solo electrician in March 2026: "if you are planning to grow fast in the near future I mean in the next 2 years to have 10 technicians in the field I will stay with service titans because their reporting is by far better and more advanced."16 ServiceTitan's own comparison page leads with the same thing, custom reports you can schedule and drill into, and marks Housecall Pro "Limited" on it.22 That's a vendor page, so weigh it. But the Reddit consensus agrees with it on reporting.
Then the memberships. ServiceTitan's module (plan types, recurring service events, renewals sold from the tablet, billing runs) is the most complete in the trade. It's also on The Works only, and the setup behind it is why a 3-tech shop spent six weeks onboarding.8 The module's full behavior, including what still needs a spreadsheet, is on the ServiceTitan memberships page.
A former service manager summed the trade in November 2022, and nothing since has moved it: "Housecall pro is like 75% of service titan at 10-20% of the cost. Make no mistake service titan is better, but last I checked when I was managing the service end at a different company it was 350 a month per employee and they still charge for other stuff that goes wrong."11
Where Housecall Pro is ahead of ServiceTitan
Housecall Pro wins on everything that happens before and around the software: the price you can see, the contract you don't sign, the trial you start yourself, the app your techs will actually open, and the support line every plan gets.1 For a shop without a full-time admin those are the features.
The setup gap is weeks. Housecall Pro is a signup form and a 14-day trial on Max with no card.1 ServiceTitan is a demo, a quote, a contract and an implementation project; the 3-tech shop that tried it: "800/month and the onboarding alone took 6 weeks."8 A third-party guide that has implemented both puts ServiceTitan at "4-6 weeks (dedicated specialist)" against "Days (self-serve)" for Housecall Pro.27
The app gap is real too. Housecall Pro's own comparison page quotes app ratings of 4.6 against 3.0.25 I pulled the stores today rather than trust either vendor: Housecall Pro is 4.6 on the App Store across 29,514 ratings and 4.5 on Google Play. ServiceTitan's newer Field app is 3.4 and 3.1; its older Mobile app is 2.9 and 2.4.19 Your techs live in that app eight hours a day, and a gap of more than a star isn't noise.
And support. Housecall Pro lists live phone and chat on every plan, with escalated phone support on Max.1 Owners on both sides complain about support quality, so this one is about cost of the workaround. A Housecall Pro owner reacting to a ServiceTitan shop's bill in November 2024: "You're paying $3,000 a month on top of the $1,200 to Service Titan? To me, it's appalling to pay that much for a product that you've then got to pay a third party to help use the software because their support blows. That said HCP support has gone way downhill too, but it's a fraction of the price."13
Maintenance agreements: Service Plans on Max vs Customizable Memberships on The Works
Both products gate their membership feature behind the top tier, so the membership question is really a pricing question. Housecall Pro's Recurring Service Plans are on Max, $150 a month over Essentials on annual billing.1 ServiceTitan's Customizable Memberships are on The Works, the package at the top of the $400-500 per tech range.2, 5
What you get for the jump differs. Housecall Pro's module bills the card and lists upcoming visits, but completed plan visits invoice at $0.00, the billing frequency and saved card lock once a plan is active, and the visits dashboard is, in HCP's words, a reminder to schedule; the office still calls every member (the documented limits are on the Housecall Pro service plans page). ServiceTitan's module does far more, but memberships expire with visits still owed unless support enables a hold, a failed preferred card just fails, and automatic card updating costs extra.
Here's the owner who lives in that gap, r/hvacadvice, May 2025: "I love service titan but 10k upfront investment for the set up and first 3 months it was a no from me right now so we went housecall pro. HCP is $150/month for the middle tier. Does everything we need it to. Wish they had service agreements on the middle tier but we just track with an xcel spreadsheet."15 That is the 1-4 truck membership comparison in one paragraph: Essentials plus a spreadsheet, because both upgrade paths are priced for a bigger shop.
Switching from Housecall Pro to ServiceTitan, and back
The pitch usually arrives between five and ten trucks. A Housecall Pro user who went through that window: "HCP is fine for residential, but it seems weak for commercial... HCP really started turning into a mess once we were past 10-techs I found."15 Pipeline On's size guide from March 2026 draws the same line, Housecall Pro Essentials up to about seven techs, ServiceTitan from $1.5 million in revenue and seven to fifteen techs.29
Going up costs more than the quote. There's the implementation fee and the weeks of onboarding above, and there's the rebuild: pricebook, customer records and plan setup all get restructured. The VP of Operations at a construction company that moved from Housecall Pro rated ServiceTitan two stars in March 2026 and said the bugs made it "not worth five times the cost of Housecall Pro."10 A commercial HVAC owner who made the same move and is glad he did, April 2025, still described it as "service titans 2 year contract with all the terms and conditions and 30-40k$ a year cost... It will be a struggle but it is definitely a giant upgrade to what you are using now."26
Going down is harder than people expect. The tech whose boss wanted out in 2022: "We have been looking into House call pro but a lot of our files we have downloaded to ST will not transfer over."11 An owner ending his contract in 2025 spent 75 minutes on hold trying to export jobs, invoices and memberships.30 And the Housecall Pro owner watching a ServiceTitan shop pay $4,200 a month all-in, November 2024: "I really do not want to move to Service Titan... But I'm definitely afraid it may be inevitable."13 If you're going to leave either one, plan the export before the renewal date, not after.
What owners say about Housecall Pro vs ServiceTitan
Six more comments from people who have used one or both, pulled live on September 7, 2026, oldest first. The dollar figures are theirs.
- HVAC owner who pays the bill, r/HVAC, November 2022: "9/10 Service Titan recommenders don't actually have to pay the bill for it every month. As the person that pays the bills, I use Housecall Pro. It is missing no relevant features and is substantially cheaper. Like, $400/month for everything I could ever dream of, instead of $400 per employee per month."11
- Plumber who has run both, r/Plumbing, April 2023: "Having used both, I prefer service titan for simplicity and ease of use. That being said, house call pro does all the essential things that service titan does, but it's cheaper."12
- ServiceTitan user advising a small residential shop, r/ProHVACR, March 2025: "At the current size you guys are I would recommend going with HouseCall Pro and I say that as someone who uses Service Titan and will continue to use it. Service Titan is a steep learning curve and most people who have it don't even fully utilize it and it is a waste of money for them just so they say they use the big dog software."14
- Owner-tech who cancelled Housecall Pro, same thread: "I just canceled housecall pro... It was not a workable system for myself as an owner/tech. I was disappointed, I was under impression it had great functionality and features, I did not find it to."14 He'd used ServiceTitan as an employee and liked it, as long as someone else ran it.
- Commercial shop doing $2 million a year, r/ProHVACR, January 2026: "They all suck on certain aspects. Cheapest: house call pro Most robust: service titan We opted for cheapest. Its a bit clunky but serves our need. 2mil a year revenue"17
- 2-tech HVAC shop after the demo, r/hvacpeople, March 2026: "Got on a demo with servicetitan and the product looks powerful but it's clearly built for big shops, and half the features don't apply to a 2 man operation and the setup process alone looked hard. Per tech pricing on top of a long contract, it just doesn't make sense at our size."18
Read them together and the pattern is boring in a useful way. Nobody says Housecall Pro is the better product. Nobody under five trucks says ServiceTitan was worth what they paid.
Which should a 1-4 truck HVAC shop choose?
Decision rules, in order:
- Solo or two trucks, first real software? Housecall Pro. Basic at $59 for one user, Essentials at $149 the day you hire.1 ServiceTitan's own users tell shops this size to wait.9, 14
- Three or four trucks, owner still running calls? Housecall Pro Essentials, billed annually. Revisit ServiceTitan when you hire a dispatcher, not before. The contractor with about 2,500 members put the line at "at least four vans on the road with 300 to 500 maintenance agreements."9
- Already on ServiceTitan under four trucks? If the office uses the dispatch board and the reports, ride the contract out. If the platform is running you, price the exit at renewal and start the export early; getting members and job history out is its own project.30
- Five to eight trucks, 300-plus agreements, an office manager and a dispatcher? ServiceTitan starts to pencil. Price The Works (memberships live only there), budget the implementation fee, and decide up front whether you'll pay a consultant or grow an admin.2, 13
- Choosing on the membership module alone? Don't. Neither tier jump is priced for 100-300 agreements. The next section is what shops that size actually do.
For the wider field (Jobber, FieldEdge, Service Fusion, Workiz), the pick-by-shop-size roundup is best HVAC maintenance agreement software, and the other big small-shop matchup is Jobber vs Housecall Pro for maintenance plans.
Either way: what neither does about maintenance agreements at a 1-4 truck shop
At 1-4 trucks you're on Housecall Pro Basic or Essentials, or on ServiceTitan Starter or Essentials. None of those four tiers has a membership object. So the agreement book lives in a spreadsheet beside the FSM: who's due, renewal dates, which card failed last spring. It works until it doesn't. Agreements lapse silently, a fall visit gets skipped and nobody notices until the member calls in the summer, and when a card fails nobody really has a system. Upgrading fixes it at $299 a month on one side and an estimated $14,000-18,000 a year on the other.
This is the part I have a product in, so weigh it accordingly. Deepsel is an agreement ledger that runs beside the FSM you keep: plan, tier, covered equipment, card on file, visits owed vs delivered per unit. It auto-charges renewals with retries and failed-payment flags, emails members a booking reminder each season (texts on Pro), and warns you before a paid visit expires. Starter is $79 a month, Pro $159 (coming soon), unlimited users. With Housecall Pro, the reminders carry your own HCP booking link, which works from the $59 Basic plan, so booked tune-ups land on your schedule the way online bookings do now; native sync is planned. There is no ServiceTitan integration: you'd import an export, Deepsel runs the agreements, and the office keys booked visits back in as normal jobs. The 3-truck math: Housecall Pro Essentials at $149 plus Deepsel Starter at $79 is $228 a month, against $299 for Max with the module's holes intact, or $1,200-1,500 for The Works.
14-day free trial. No credit card required. Still deciding? The free agreement-tracking spreadsheet works beside either FSM.Frequently asked questions
Is Housecall Pro or ServiceTitan better for HVAC?
Under about five trucks, Housecall Pro. It publishes its prices ($59-$299 a month billed annually), signs you up the same day, has no contract, and its app is rated 4.6 on the App Store against 3.4 for ServiceTitan's newer Field app. Past five trucks with a dispatcher and an office, ServiceTitan's dispatch board, call recording, reporting and membership module start paying for themselves. Both are HVAC-first products; the difference is the size of office they assume you have.
How much more does ServiceTitan cost than Housecall Pro?
For a 3-truck shop, about nine to eighteen times in year one. Housecall Pro Essentials is $149 a month billed annually, $1,788 a year, with four users inside the five included. ServiceTitan is quote-only; the 2026 analyst ranges put three techs at $900-1,500 a month depending on package, $10,800-18,000 a year, plus a $5,000-15,000 implementation fee. Year one lands at $15,800-33,000. Year two drops the implementation fee and is still six to ten times Housecall Pro.
When should I switch from Housecall Pro to ServiceTitan?
When the office, not the software, is the bottleneck. A contractor running about 2,500 members on ServiceTitan put the line at four vans and 300-500 maintenance agreements. A Housecall Pro user said it started turning into a mess past ten techs. If you have a dispatcher, a bookkeeper who wants scheduled reports, and 12 months of budget for a contract plus onboarding, the demo is worth taking. If the owner still runs calls, stay.
Does ServiceTitan have a free trial like Housecall Pro?
No. Housecall Pro gives 14 days on its Max plan with no card, and does not require a long-term contract. ServiceTitan sells through a demo, Capterra's product page lists 'Free trial not available,' and every 2026 analysis reports a 12-month minimum with no month-to-month option. One May 2026 Capterra reviewer said he was not told he was signing a 2-year term. Read the term before you sign.
Does Housecall Pro or ServiceTitan work better with QuickBooks?
Both sync with QuickBooks Online. Housecall Pro's sync is included from the $149 Essentials tier and you turn it on yourself. ServiceTitan integrates with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop, and its own help center says account configuration is required and to contact Technical Support to set it up. ServiceTitan's accounting side is deeper (sub-customers by location, batch exports); Housecall Pro's is faster to switch on.
Which is better for maintenance agreements, Housecall Pro or ServiceTitan?
ServiceTitan's membership module is the deeper one, but it sits on The Works, the top package. Housecall Pro's Recurring Service Plans sit on Max ($299 a month) and invoice completed plan visits at $0.00 with billing frequency frozen once a plan is active. At 1-4 trucks, neither tier jump is priced for 100-300 agreements. Most shops that size keep their FSM tier and run the agreement ledger beside it, in a spreadsheet or a dedicated tool.
Can a one-man shop use ServiceTitan?
It can buy it, and the owners who did regret it. ServiceTitan prices per technician, charges a separate implementation fee, and its own users say it expects a dedicated dispatcher and someone running the platform full time. A 2-tech shop that took the demo in March 2026: 'Per tech pricing on top of a long contract, it just doesn't make sense at our size.' Housecall Pro Basic is $59 a month for one user and you're live the same afternoon.
