Workiz vs Jobber (2026): what each costs, where each one wins, and what neither does about maintenance agreements
- Deepsel is our product. It appears in one labeled section near the end and is not the answer to the Workiz-vs-Jobber question.
- Every price was checked on the vendor's own pricing page on September 7, 2026. Workiz publishes no prices, so its figures are its last published rates, labeled and linked.
- Every claim about what breaks links to the thread, review or help article it came from.
Workiz vs Jobber comes down to phones and terms. Jobber publishes its prices (Core $29 a month on annual billing, Connect $99, Grow $149, Plus $399), sells month to month and has the higher-rated mobile app. Workiz is quote-only in 2026, last listed at $225-325 a month for five users on an annual contract, and it's the one with call tracking, call recording and AI answering built into the CRM. Neither runs a maintenance agreement end to end.
These two get compared because they sit in the same price band below ServiceTitan and pitch the same 1-10 truck shop, from opposite directions. Jobber passed 100,000 customers in May 2026 across fifty-plus service verticals, lawn care and cleaning included.19 Workiz was started in 2015 by two San Diego locksmiths who couldn't find software that fit a call-driven trade, and it says 120,000-plus service pros use it today, in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, garage door, locksmith, appliance repair and junk removal.13 Workiz's own comparison page draws the line without much subtlety: "Jobber is great for simple routes like lawn care and pools. Workiz runs the complex trades... where you're dispatching techs, running multi-day projects, tracking parts, and living on the phone."14 That's a sales page. But the phone half of it is the real difference, and the rest of this page is about what that difference costs.

So Workiz charges more, locks you in for a year, and gives you a phone system for it. Jobber charges less, lets you leave, and makes you bring your own phones. Pick by how many calls a day your office takes. The two sections after the pricing math cover what each of those choices costs you.
Workiz vs Jobber pricing: what a 3-truck shop actually pays
For a 3-truck shop (an owner, three techs and an office manager, so five users, collecting about $15,000 a month by card), Jobber Connect runs about $614-664 a month all in, with no commitment. Workiz Standard runs an estimated $765-810 a month on an annual contract, phone system included. Most of the gap is the phone.
| Line item | Workiz Standard (estimate) | Jobber Connect, 5-user band |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription | $229-275, the last published rate (annual / monthly payment, both on an annual contract)4, 6 | $149-199 (annual / no commitment)1 |
| Phone system | About $100, reviewer-reported; not published33 | Bring your own. Receptionist add-on has no public price1 |
| Card processing, $15,000 on about 100 invoices | About $435 at the third-party-listed 2.69% + 30¢34 | About $465 at 2.9% + 30¢1 |
| Monthly total | About $765-810 | About $614-664 |
| Per year | About $9,200-9,700, committed | About $7,400-8,000, cancellable monthly |
Two things move that math. Bank transfers cost 1% on both platforms, so shifting big-ticket installs off cards saves more than the subscription gap. And if you already pay a separate phone provider, subtract it from the Jobber column, because Workiz's line replaces it. On the other side, Workiz's extras are metered (a 10-minute local call is $0.50 on demand, and one emoji cuts a text's segment size from 160 characters to 67),9 and its last listed extra-user rates were double Jobber's. A sixth user costs $55-65 a month on Workiz Standard or Pro against $29 on Jobber.2, 5 Every line item is in the Workiz pricing breakdown and the Jobber pricing breakdown.
The phone system: what you're paying Workiz for
Workiz's Genius Phone puts call tracking numbers, call recording with searchable transcripts, call masking between techs and customers, call flows and ad tracking inside the CRM, and it's sold separately on every plan.3, 10 Jobber has no phone system. It has two-way texting on Grow and a Receptionist add-on that answers calls and texts around the clock.1, 16
For a locksmith or a garage-door shop, that's the whole comparison. Every inbound call becomes a client record with the recording attached, the dispatcher sees who's calling before picking up, and the tracking numbers tell you which ad paid for the job. A dispatcher at an 8-tech HVAC and appliance-repair shop that left ServiceTitan over its "$300+ per tech" put it plainly: Workiz "fits better with our setup."25 An HVAC owner a year in: "The dispatch board makes it easier to assign jobs and track who's where. Less chaotic."26
Two cautions from people paying for it. The phone plan is metered: on-demand calls run $0.50 per 10 minutes on a local number and double that on toll-free, and texts bill by 160-character segment.9 And the AI layer has a reliability record. A Trustpilot reviewer in May 2026: "Currently paying for an AI system that has actively lost us business."22 An owner who left in February 2026 said the paid "genius" transcription "would often just not work, to the point they credited me for a month of service and it still wasn't sufficient."28
Jobber's answer is to connect rather than build. Receptionist is an add-on with no public price, and everything else about phones is bring-your-own,1 which is why the shops that love Jobber talk about the app, not the switchboard. "Jobber is just sooo easy for not only me, but my technicians," a home-service owner paying $375 a month wrote in July 2024.27
Contracts and per-user billing: what you're paying Jobber for
Jobber sells three ways (month to month with no commitment, monthly on a 12-month commitment, or annual prepaid) and the first one ends at the close of whatever billing period you're in.1 Workiz sells one way: "All Workiz plans are purchased on annual contracts, but payments may be made monthly or annually."6
The contract is where the Workiz complaints cluster, and they're specific. From the Billing FAQ: "Removing users does not reduce the number of seats on your account or lower your price during your contract term."6 A long-time Workiz advocate asked to drop from 10 seats to 5 in September 2024 and "was still charged for 10 accounts for the next two months," then $800 again.28 A Trustpilot reviewer in August 2026: "My contract charges $45 per user, with a minimum of five users. Even if a business no longer needs five users, there is no option to reduce the number of users or reduce the payment."22 And the owner above, on trying to downgrade after a year: "Unfortunately you would have to sign the contract before we end this call or you will lose access."28 Workiz's Trustpilot score sits at 1.7 out of 5 across 129 reviews. Jobber's is 4.2 across 227.22, 23
Jobber's price complaints are about the number, not the terms. The founder of a two-person home-service startup did the trial and the demo in August 2026 and was "just not happy at all with that price."31 A customer of several years on Trustpilot, the same month: "Their reports options are extremely limited... KEEP raising the price."23 Both of them could leave at the end of the month. That's the difference.
The mobile app: the Android gap
On September 7, 2026, Jobber's app rated 4.8 on iOS (20,787 ratings) and 4.4 on Android (6,716 ratings, over a million installs). Workiz rated 4.6 on iOS (2,146 ratings) and 2.8 on Android (425 ratings, 50,000-plus installs).20, 21 If your techs carry Android phones, that last number is the one to test during the trial.
The iPhone apps are close. The Android apps are not. A Workiz user in December 2025: "The app/website is buggy... always have OTP issues which can lead to being locked out of your account for quite some time."32 Jobber's app also runs in Spanish for team members other than admins and owners, which matters on a lot of HVAC and plumbing crews.1
API, Zapier and QuickBooks: which one lets you bolt things on
Jobber syncs with QuickBooks Online and Xero and connects to Zapier from the Connect plan, and its GraphQL API is open through a free developer program with no plan gate.1, 15, 18 Workiz syncs QuickBooks Online on every plan but puts its open API and Zapier on Ultimate only.3
That gate is what made a pressure-washing owner (a software engineer by trade) write in May 2025: "Workiz is useless under the ultimate tier (no custom documents, API, Zapier, or service plans)." The same post called Jobber "way overpriced for what it offers" and complained that it had no sales pipeline.24 Jobber has since added Pipeline as a paid add-on.1 For a 1-4 truck shop the practical version is this: on Jobber, an agreement tool, a review tool or a marketing platform can connect on the $99 plan. On Workiz, anything that needs the API means pricing Ultimate.
What owners say about Workiz vs Jobber
Threads pulled live on September 7, 2026, beyond the ones quoted above. Dates and permalinks are in the sources.
- Locksmith, January 2025: "I'm currently using Workiz, and it's great, but it's getting expensive as we grow."27
- Small cleaning crew, September 2026: "used Workiz for a bit... pricing was weird and kept changing on us."31
- Owner who left Workiz after a year, February 2026, summing up: "Too expensive, lots of scammy paid extras for functionality, predatory business practices, underwhelming product and service."28
- Jobber user at a commercial HVAC and refrigeration company, August 2024: "We use Jobber which I find does pretty much everything I need it to. The only downside to it is the maintenance tracking (or lack there of)... Just wish they implement a better way to track service contracts is all."30
- Two-person home-service startup, August 2026: tried Jobber and was "just not happy at all with that price." On Workiz: "their price seems to be hidden."31
One thing to know before you read those threads yourself. In May and June 2025 a handful of accounts posted more than twenty near-identical comments across r/HVAC, r/Plumbing, r/ProHVACR, r/Construction and r/Contractor, each saying the poster had tried Jobber or Housecall Pro and "switched to Workiz" for its "ease of use" and "client communication tools." On live Reddit most of those comments now show a deleted author. An electrician called one out at the time: "We can see your comment history. You're clearly a working employee."29 I left every one of them out. None of the quotes above come from those accounts.
Which should a 1-4 truck HVAC shop choose?
Decision rules, in order:
- Your office takes 15-plus calls a day and you buy leads? Workiz. Get Genius Phone priced on the written quote, ask for the per-minute and per-segment rates, and read the seat clause in the contract before you sign it.
- 1-2 trucks and you want to pay month to month? Jobber. Core at $29 for a solo, Connect at $99 the day you want online booking and automated reminders. Workiz has had no solo tier since it dropped Lite and Kickstart (listed in May 2025, gone by June 2026).4, 5
- 3-4 trucks running spring-and-fall tune-ups on 100-plus agreements? Jobber Connect, and put the agreement book beside it. Neither product counts visits owed, and Workiz's version is an Ultimate quote.
- Techs on Android? Jobber, unless the Workiz app survives a week on a tech's actual phone during the trial.
- Already on Workiz Standard or Pro and happy with the phones? Stay. Don't move to Ultimate for service plans alone. Run the agreements beside the tier you have.
For the wider field (ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, FieldEdge, Service Fusion), see the full maintenance agreement software comparison.
Either way: what neither does about maintenance agreements
Jobber has no membership object on any plan. The feature request has sat in its community for years,35 so the workaround is a recurring job per member, a client tag for the tier, a custom field for the renewal date and a recurring invoice (the click-by-click build is in how to run maintenance plans in Jobber). A recurring job has no owed-vs-delivered count, so a skipped spring visit surfaces when the member calls in the fall. Workiz has the object, on Ultimate, and it bills well: card on file, an auto-renew toggle, a member discount, an email when a card fails.11 Then it drops every paid visit on the calendar as a placeholder. In Workiz's words, "you will not be able to make changes or assign techs to these visits until after you convert them into jobs," and the default automation texts the member 14 days out so they "know to contact you to book a specific time and day."11 The full write-up is in Workiz service plans, explained.
This is the part I have a product in, so weigh it accordingly. Deepsel is an agreement ledger that runs beside the FSM you keep: plan, tier, covered equipment, card on file, visits owed vs delivered per unit. It auto-charges renewals with retries and flags the cards that stay failed, emails every member who's due a booking reminder each spring and fall (texts on Pro), and warns you before a paid visit expires. Starter is $79 a month, Pro $159 (coming soon), unlimited users. With Jobber, Starter imports your client list and the reminder emails carry your Jobber booking link; Pro syncs natively and writes booked visits back into Jobber as jobs. With Workiz there is no integration today: you import Workiz's export, and when a member books, your office keys the visit into Workiz as a normal job. Stack cost: Jobber Connect at $149 plus Deepsel at $79 is $228 a month. Workiz Standard's last list price plus Deepsel is about $308. Either one is the answer to a service-plan tier you'd otherwise be quoted for. Plan details are on the pricing page.

Is Workiz or Jobber better for HVAC?
Jobber for most 1-4 truck HVAC shops, Workiz for the ones that live on the phone. Jobber publishes its prices, sells month to month, has the higher-rated mobile app on both platforms and an open API. Workiz puts call tracking, call recording and an AI answering service inside the CRM, which matters when a dispatcher is fielding 15-plus calls a day. Neither has a maintenance-agreement object that counts visits owed against visits delivered, so the spring-and-fall PM book lives beside either one.
Is Workiz cheaper than Jobber?
No, at any size under 15 users. Jobber Core is $29 a month on annual billing for one user and Connect is $149 for five. Workiz's last published prices, from May 2025, were $229 a month for Standard and $270 for Pro on annual billing with five users included, and since 2026 every Workiz plan is quote-only. Add the phone system (about $100 a month by reviewer reports) and a 3-truck shop lands around $765-810 a month on Workiz against $614-664 on Jobber Connect, card processing included in both.
Does Workiz have service plans?
Yes, on the Ultimate tier only. The Service Plans add-on bills a card on file, applies a member discount and drops each paid visit on the schedule as a placeholder that can't be edited or assigned until the office converts it to a job. The default reminder texts the client 14 days out and asks them to call you. Standard and Pro get recurring jobs, which schedule visits and hold no price, card or renewal date.
Does Jobber have maintenance agreements?
No. Jobber has no membership or service-agreement object on any plan, and the feature request has sat open in its community for years. Shops build the workaround: a recurring job per member for the visits, a client tag for the tier, a custom field for the renewal date, and a recurring invoice or automatic payment for the money. It works until you need to know who's still owed a fall visit.
Does Workiz require a contract?
Yes. Workiz's billing FAQ says every plan is purchased on an annual contract, with the choice of paying monthly or annually. Seats added mid-term bill through the end of the term even if you remove the user. Jobber sells three ways: month to month with no commitment, monthly with a 12-month commitment, or annual prepaid. The no-commitment option ends at the close of the billing period you're in.
Can I switch from Workiz to Jobber without losing my data?
Clients, jobs and invoices move by export and import, and Jobber offers a data import as part of onboarding. Two things don't move cleanly. Saved cards stay with the old processor, so members re-enter payment details. And if you ran Service Plans on Workiz Ultimate, Jobber has no object to receive them, so each plan is rebuilt by hand or moved into a dedicated agreement tool first. Time the switch for a shoulder season, and check your Workiz contract end date before you give notice.
Which has the better mobile app, Workiz or Jobber?
Jobber, by the ratings on September 7, 2026. Jobber's iOS app sits at 4.8 from 20,787 ratings and its Android app at 4.4 from 6,716, with over a million installs. Workiz sits at 4.6 from 2,146 ratings on iOS and 2.8 from 425 on Android, with 50,000-plus installs. Jobber's app also runs in Spanish for team members. If your techs carry Android phones, test the Workiz app on one of them during the 7-day trial.
