Housecall Pro pricing 2026: every plan, every add-on, and what Max actually buys you
- I build membership software that runs beside Housecall Pro, so I have a horse in exactly one section of this race: the service-plans gap. Every other number here is straight off HCP's own pricing page, dated and sourced.
- HCP has moved features between tiers before. If a price below has changed, email me and I'll fix it the same week.
Housecall Pro costs $59 a month on Basic, $149 on Essentials and $299 on Max when billed annually, or $79, $189 and $329 month to month. Basic includes 1 user, Essentials 5, Max 8. Card processing starts at 2.59%. There's a 14-day free trial with no card required.1
That's the answer Google should have given you. The rest of this page is the part that decides your bill: what each tier gates, what extra users cost, what processing adds, and the one feature (Recurring Service Plans) that sits behind a $150/mo tier jump.
How much is Housecall Pro per month?
Housecall Pro is $59, $149 or $299 a month billed annually for Basic, Essentials and Max, or $79, $189 and $329 month to month. That covers 1, 5 and 8 users. Past those seats you pay $100 per extra user on Essentials and $75 on Max, plus card processing from 2.59% on every plan.1 (If you searched "house call pro price" with a space in it, same product, same numbers. The company spells it Housecall Pro.)
| Plan | Billed annually | Month to month | Users included | Extra users | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $59/mo | $79/mo | 1 | Not listed | A solo operator who wants booking, quotes, invoices and payments in one app |
| Essentials | $149/mo | $189/mo | 5 | $100/mo each | 2-4 trucks with an office person and a bookkeeper on QuickBooks |
| Max | $299/mo | $329/mo | 8 | $75/mo each | 6+ users, API or Zapier needs, or HCP's own service-plan module |
Annual billing saves $20 a month on Basic, $40 on Essentials and $30 on Max, which is $240 to $480 a year. All prices are in USD and exclude sales tax, which applies in some states.1

Every plan includes live phone and chat support, the free mobile app, and access to consumer financing. One thing the table can't show: the 14-day trial runs on Max, so you'll spend two weeks with features you may never pay for. Check the Essentials column before you decide the app is worth $299.1
Housecall Pro Max pricing: what the $299 tier includes
Max is $299 a month billed annually or $329 month to month, with 8 users included and extra users at $75 each. HCP sells it through a demo, not a signup button.1 Everything in Essentials comes with it, plus six things you can't get lower down:
- Recurring Service Plans. The module for maintenance agreements: auto-charged plans with visits attached. Covered in depth below, because it's the feature most 2-4 truck shops are actually paying the $150 jump for.
- Open API access and Zapier. The only tier where you can connect HCP to other systems yourself.1
- Route optimization. Reorders the day's jobs on real drive time and live traffic. Essentials has manual route grouping; Max does it in one click.
- Sales proposal tool. Visual good-better-best proposals. HCP prices it at "$40/mo value," which tells you it's also sold as an add-on.
- Dedicated onboarding specialist. A named rep for setup, instead of the help center and chat.
- Escalated phone support. A faster line when something breaks on a Friday afternoon.
Where the Max seat math flips: at six or seven users, Essentials plus $100 add-on seats ($249-349/mo) lands next to Max ($299/mo with 8 seats). If you're hiring toward that size, Max can be the cheaper ticket even before you count the features.
Housecall Pro cost per month for a 2-truck shop (the real total)
The sticker price is the smallest line on the bill. Here's the math for a typical 2-truck HVAC shop: an owner, two techs and someone in the office (four users), running about $15,000 a month through card payments.
| Line item | On Essentials (annual) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Software | $149/mo | 4 users fit inside the 5 included. Month-to-month costs $189, a $480/yr difference |
| Card processing | ~$389/mo | $15,000 × 2.59%, and that's the floor rate; keyed-in and emailed-invoice payments run higher |
| Bank payments | 1% of ACH volume | Cheaper than cards for big tickets; checks deposited by app are free |
| Extra users | $0 until user six | Then $100/mo each, the fastest-growing line for shops that hire |
| Add-ons | Quoted separately | CSR AI call answering, Sales Proposal Tool, Pipeline, Payroll, Accounting, Business Coaching - none carry a public price1 |
| Total, before add-ons | ~$538/mo | ~$6,450/yr, of which processing is the biggest piece |
Look where the money went. Processing dwarfs the subscription; the gap between tiers matters less than steering big-ticket jobs from cards to 1% ACH. And the moment this shop wants to sell maintenance agreements through HCP's own module, the software line doubles to $299. That's the next section.
One more line item that never shows on the pricing page: what the sales rep quoted you versus what gets billed. An owner on r/HouseCallPro in June 2026: "After discussing different plans i was offered a 5-user plan for an agreed-upon price. when the bills started coming the price had increased and additional services i did not order were also added without my knowledge."6 That's one report, so weigh it as one. The cheap defense is the same either way: get the quoted plan, seat count and add-ons in an email before you pay, and read the first two invoices line by line.
Which plan fits, by shop size
- Solo, just starting: Basic at $59. The 1-user limit is the real constraint, not the features. The day you hire, you're on Essentials.
- 2-4 trucks: Essentials, billed annually, is the price-performance answer. Five users covers the crew, QuickBooks sync covers the bookkeeper.
- Max makes sense when you need six-plus office-and-field users (Max's 8 included seats plus cheaper $75 extra users flip the math around user seven), you need the open API, or you want the dedicated onboarding. If the only line pulling you up is Recurring Service Plans, read on before you pay for the whole tier.
The $150 membership gap
Recurring Service Plans, HCP's module for maintenance agreements, is listed as a Max feature.1 On annual billing, Essentials to Max is $149 to $299: $150 a month, $1,800 a year, to unlock selling the plans you probably already sell on paper.
To be fair about what that $150 buys: the whole Max bundle comes with it. Proposal tool, route optimization, API access, three more seats, the onboarding specialist. If you'd use those anyway, Max is fine and you can stop reading here.
But if service plans are the reason, look at what the module does and doesn't do once you have it. These limits are documented in HCP's own help center and in its users' words, not mine:
- Completed plan visits invoice at $0.00, with no link back to the plan payment, which makes QuickBooks reconciliation a manual project. One owner in February 2026: "I have been on the phone for 45 minutes and no one can help me… I settled for a 0.00 invoice that just references service plan on the invoice notes."4
- Billing frequency and the saved card lock once a plan is active. HCP's Service Plans FAQ says the frequency "cannot be changed" and the card "cannot be removed."2
- Profiles with a plan can never be merged, even after the plan is deleted, "for security reasons" tied to the card on file.2 Clean up duplicate customers before you sell them a plan.
- The visits dashboard is a to-do list, in HCP's own words: "This list will act as your reminder to schedule actual appointment times."3 The office still books every visit by hand.
- Nothing warns you before a paid visit expires at the end of a plan year.
The full breakdown, including workarounds inside HCP, is in Housecall Pro service plans, explained. The four ways shops route around the gap entirely, with prices, are in the Service Plans alternatives guide.
Essentials + a membership layer vs. Max
This is the comparison I built Deepsel for, so weigh my bias accordingly, then check the arithmetic yourself. It's short. Deepsel runs the maintenance-agreement program beside HCP on any tier: the season reminders carry your own book.housecallpro.com link, so bookings land on your HCP schedule the way they do now, and no API (and therefore no Max) is required.
| What the membership program needs | Max alone ($299/mo) | Essentials + Deepsel Starter ($228/mo) | Essentials + Deepsel Pro ($308/mo) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Auto-charge renewals on a card on file | Yes, but frequency and card lock once active2 | Yes, editable anytime | Yes, editable anytime |
| What happens when a card fails | No retries or member alerts documented; lapsed plans leave "pending payments" for the office to resolve2 | Retries, card updater, and a text to the member | Retries, card updater, and a text to the member |
| Seasonal booking outreach | The dashboard to-do list; office books by hand3 | Automated reminder emails with self-serve booking | Automated reminder texts + emails with self-serve booking |
| Visits owed vs. delivered, per system | Unscheduled-visits list | Yes, per unit, visible to the member too | Yes, per unit, visible to the member too |
| Warning before a paid visit expires | No | Yes | Yes |
| QuickBooks export of plan money collected vs. visits still owed | No - the $0-invoice problem4 | No | Yes, monthly journal |
| HCP users included | 8 | 5 (Deepsel users are unlimited) | 5 (Deepsel users are unlimited) |
| Everything else in Max (proposals, route optimization, API, onboarding) | Yes | No | No |
Read it both ways. If you want the rest of the Max bundle, buy Max. If you want the membership program run properly, Essentials plus Deepsel Starter is $71/mo less than Max and does the renewal and ledger work Max's module leaves to the office. Essentials plus Pro is $9/mo more than Max, and the visits book themselves by text. (Pro is coming soon; details and current status on the pricing page.)

HCP is one of the few platforms in this category that prints its prices. That alone changes how you shop. Here's how the others bill, each with its own breakdown:
- Jobber publishes its prices too, but charges by team-size band (1, up to 5, up to 10, up to 15 users) instead of per extra seat, so the sixth user is the expensive one.
- ServiceTitan is quote-only and priced per technician, with onboarding fees and a contract on top. It's the platform HCP shops get pitched when they outgrow Max.
- Workiz has a free entry tier and quote-only paid tiers, with service plans gated to the top one, the same shape as HCP's Max gate.
- FieldPulse is quote-only and priced per user, which makes a 4-user shop's bill hard to guess from the website.
- Service Fusion publishes flat tiers with unlimited users, so a growing crew doesn't move the software line at all.
- FieldEdge is quote-only, per user, with an implementation fee and a contract, closer to ServiceTitan's model than to HCP's.
If maintenance agreements are the reason you're comparing, the best HVAC maintenance agreement software roundup scores each of these on the agreement module rather than the sticker price.
Frequently asked questions
What are the different Housecall Pro tiers?
Three: Basic ($59/mo annual, $79/mo monthly, 1 user), Essentials ($149/mo annual, $189/mo monthly, 5 users, extra users $100/mo each), and Max ($299/mo annual, $329/mo monthly, 8 users, extra users $75/mo each). Basic covers booking, scheduling, invoicing and payments. Essentials adds QuickBooks sync, checklists, GPS tracking and flat-rate pricing. Max adds Recurring Service Plans, open API access, route optimization and a dedicated onboarding specialist.1
How much is Housecall Pro per month?
Between $59 and $329 for the software, depending on tier and billing cycle: Basic $59/mo billed annually or $79/mo month to month, Essentials $149/mo or $189/mo, Max $299/mo or $329/mo. Prices exclude sales tax. On top of that: card processing from 2.59%, 1% on bank payments, per-user fees past the included seats, and separately priced add-ons like CSR AI call answering, Pipeline and Payroll.
How much is Housecall Pro Max?
Max is $299 a month billed annually or $329 month to month, with 8 users included and extra users at $75/mo each. It's the only tier with Recurring Service Plans, open API access, Zapier, route optimization, the sales proposal tool, a dedicated onboarding specialist and escalated phone support.1 Max is sold through a demo rather than self-serve, and the 14-day free trial runs on Max.
Does Housecall Pro charge per user?
Only past the seats included in your tier. Basic includes 1 user, Essentials 5, Max 8. Each extra user is $100/mo on Essentials and $75/mo on Max; Basic doesn't list an extra-user price because it's built as a one-person plan.1 For a shop at six or seven users, Max's cheaper extra seats can bring it close to Essentials plus add-on users, so count heads before you pick a tier.
Is Housecall Pro worth the money?
For a 1-4-truck shop that wants scheduling, invoicing, payments and online booking in one tool, Essentials at $149 is one of the better-priced options in field service software, and the 5 included users cover most small shops. The math gets questionable at the tier jumps. Paying $150/mo more for one feature is where shops overpay, and that feature is usually service plans. Comparing against the other big FSM? The Jobber pricing breakdown runs the same real-total-cost math for Core through Plus.
What percentage does Housecall Pro take?
It doesn't take a percentage of your job revenue. It charges payment processing: card rates start at 2.59% (that's the card-present floor; keyed-in and invoice payments run higher) and bank payments carry a 1% fee.1 Check deposits through the mobile app are free. Processing is where the real per-job cost sits, so include it when you compare tiers.
Does Housecall Pro report to the IRS?
If you take payments through it, yes, the same way every card processor does. Housecall Pro Payments files a Form 1099-K once you pass the federal reporting threshold ($20,000 and 200 transactions after the 2025 tax-law change; some states set lower thresholds).5 That's standard for Stripe, Square and everyone else. Your income is taxable and reportable either way; the 1099-K just means the IRS also gets a copy of the card total.
Do I need Housecall Pro Max to run service plans?
For the built-in module, yes: Recurring Service Plans is a Max feature, so the in-app way to auto-bill maintenance plans starts at $299/mo. The other route is Essentials plus a membership layer beside it: $228/mo total with Deepsel Starter, which covers the agreement ledger, card-on-file renewals and failed-payment handling. The module's documented limits are covered here.
Does Housecall Pro have a free trial or a contract?
There's a 14-day free trial on the Max plan with no credit card required, HCP's pricing page says no contracts, and monthly billing runs month to month. Annual billing saves $20-40/mo depending on tier but commits you for the year, and downgrades take effect at the end of the billing period you're in.1 Two owners on r/HouseCallPro in 2026 reported being billed after emailing to cancel,7 so cancel in writing before day 14 and keep the confirmation.
