ServiceM8 pricing 2026: every plan by job count, the fees that don't show, and how it handles maintenance plans

  • Prices come from ServiceM8's US pricing page (in USD) and its Australian page (in AUD, including GST), plus its help center, all checked on September 2, 2026. Where a number is a third party's or a user's, I say so.
  • I build Deepsel, a maintenance-agreement tool for US shops. It has no ServiceM8 integration. It's relevant to one section of this page, and that section is labeled.

ServiceM8 pricing, verified September 2, 2026: Free ($0, one user, 30 jobs a month), Starter $29, Growing $79, Premium $149 and Premium Plus $349 a month, priced by jobs created per month with unlimited users on every paid plan. Australia pays the same figures in AUD including GST. US card processing through ServiceM8 Pay is 3.05% + 30¢.1, 2, 6

That's the search-box answer. Your real bill is decided by the job cap, the texts, the card fees and the phone system, none of which sit on the plan cards. And if you sell maintenance agreements, the back half of this page covers what ServiceM8's recurring jobs do for them and what they don't.

Every ServiceM8 plan and price

ServiceM8 doesn't count seats. It counts job cards. Each plan includes a monthly allowance of new jobs and a monthly allowance of texts, and the paid plans unlock add-ons in bands.1

Plan Price per month Users Jobs per month SMS included What it unlocks
Free $0 1 30 None (10¢ per text) Job cards, scheduling, quotes and invoices, online booking, card payments, recurring jobs, accounting sync, 10 AI uses a day
Starter $29 Unlimited 50 100+ Everything in Free, unlimited AI, progress invoicing, Auto-Pay for recurring jobs (see the caveat below)
Growing $79 Unlimited 150 300+ Everything in Starter, asset management, build-your-own electronic forms, bundles, proposals, Inbox
Premium $149 Unlimited 500 1,000+ Everything in Growing, job costing and profitability, markup billing, Knowledge, Location Insights
Premium Plus $349 Unlimited 1,500+ 3,000+ Everything in Premium, with the biggest job and SMS allowances

Prices are USD on the US site.1 In Australia the same numbers are AUD and include GST, so an Australian shop on Growing pays A$79, not US$79 converted.2 Every plan gets the essentials: job cards, scheduling, quoting and invoicing, full client history, online bookings, card payments, CRM automation, accounting integrations and reporting.1

How the job cap works

A job credit is spent every time you create a new job card. It doesn't matter whether the card starts as a quote or a work order, and converting an accepted quote into a work order costs nothing extra.1 Go over the cap and you get 7 more days of normal work. If your billing cycle resets inside those 7 days, your credits reset with it; if not, ServiceM8 prompts you to move up a plan.1 Plans have no contracts, no setup fees and no per-user fees, and you can change plan any time with a pro-rata credit for what you'd already paid.4, 5

Two more things to know before you pick. The full app runs on iPhone and iPad only; Android techs get ServiceM8 Lite, a cut-down field app.1 And the 14-day trial is more generous than the plans: unlimited jobs, every add-on, a limited number of texts, no card needed. Budget on the plan you'll land on, not the trial.4

What does ServiceM8 charge on top of the plan?

Four lines, in the order they usually surprise people.

  • Card processing. ServiceM8 Pay, the built-in processor, charges US shops 3.05% + 30¢ on domestic cards, 4.60% + 30¢ on international cards and $15 per dispute, on every plan. Australia gets rates that step down by plan, from 2.10% + 30c on Free to 1.49% + 30c on Premium. Your first payout takes 7 to 14 days; after that it's next business day.6 The older Stripe Payments add-on ran 3.10% + 30¢ in the US and is no longer offered to new accounts.7, 9 You can pass the fee to clients as a surcharge where local law allows.6
  • SMS overage. Each paid plan bundles texts (100+, 300+, 1,000+, 3,000+). Past the bundle there's a per-message overage fee that ServiceM8 says to look up in the plan comparison table; the Free plan simply pays 10¢ a text.1, 3 A shop sending a booking confirmation, an on-the-way text and a feedback request per job is at three texts a job, which outruns the Growing bundle at about 100 jobs a month.
  • ServiceM8 Phone. The optional phone system starts at $19 a month with unlimited users and a one-month free trial.1 Prices there have moved: a two-year electrical contractor on Capterra in October 2025 said that by the time his data migration finished, the unlimited phone plan he'd signed up for had "doubled its price."15
  • Setup and forms. Any plan can buy ready-made forms from the Form Store; building your own needs Growing or above. Setup is self-serve, or you pay a ServiceM8 Partner to configure templates and forms for you.1

The real total cost (worked example: 3-truck HVAC shop)

Take a shop with three techs and an office manager doing about 130 jobs a month, collecting $15,000 of it by card across 80 payments, and using the phone system.

Line item Monthly Notes
Subscription $79 Growing, 150-job cap. Four logins cost nothing extra
Card processing ~$482 $15,000 × 3.05% + 80 × 30¢ through ServiceM8 Pay (US)6
SMS overage Unpublished ~390 texts at three per job against a 300 bundle; fee per text not listed on the pricing page1
ServiceM8 Phone From $19 Optional; unlimited users1
Total, before add-ons ~$580 The subscription is about 14% of it

Same lesson as with Jobber and Housecall Pro: processing is the big line, and the plan you pick barely moves it. One contractor who'd tried Jobber and come back to ServiceM8 in September 2024 put it this way: "The price drop is definitely a huge plus... I just can't pay more for a program AND pay my customers credit card processing fees."13 The subscription is cheap. Watch the cap and the card rate.

Which plan by job volume

  • Solo, under 30 jobs a month: Free. A solo Australian plumber doing 10 to 15 jobs a week on ServiceM8 plus Xero14 is already past it, onto Starter or Growing.
  • 1 to 2 trucks, 50 to 150 jobs a month: Starter at the low end; Growing the moment you want forms you build yourself or asset records.
  • 3 to 4 trucks, 150 to 500 jobs a month: Premium. The $70 jump buys job costing and a cap you won't hit in a busy month.
  • Multi-crew, 500+: Premium Plus, or the point where shops start pricing ServiceTitan and simPRO. A Queensland contractor who ran 100,000 jobs through ServiceM8 before moving to simPRO still called it "the best overall backend and field user experience of all the apps no questions."12

ServiceM8 maintenance plans and memberships: what's there and what still needs a spreadsheet

If you sell maintenance agreements (two tune-ups a year, priority service, a discount, billed up front or monthly), here's the honest map of what ServiceM8 gives you. It's a good scheduler with no agreement object, and the same contractor quoted above named the reason in one sentence:

"However it is truly designed for one site visit is one job is one invoice. It becomes messy if you start doing large projects with teams returning multiple days or even weeks on end."12

A maintenance agreement is the other shape of work: one payment, several visits, a renewal at the end. Here's how each piece maps.

Recurring jobs: scheduling, on every plan

Recurring jobs are included from Free up.1, 3 There are two add-ons: Simple Recurring Jobs, and the fuller Recurring Jobs + Reminders. The fuller one is built on job templates, is created only from the online Dispatch Board, and creates future bookings as inactive "TBC" placeholders that activate themselves a set time (default one week) before each date.8 It has a mode made for agreement work, the "Reminder should arrive in the Inbox" type, which ServiceM8 describes for "longer-term recurring work where a specific time and staff member needs to be confirmed closer to the date": "One week prior to the booking's occurrence you will receive a notification in your ServiceM8 Inbox about the work. You can then contact the client to confirm."8 The full walkthrough of both recurring-jobs add-ons, from templates to what they can't do, is here.

So the office still books every visit. And the template model has a catch a facilities director on a legacy per-job plan flagged on Capterra: "updating a client doesn't update the recurring job - you need to also update the template...double handling."15

Auto-Pay for recurring jobs: listed on the pricing page, closed to new accounts

The pricing page lists "Auto-Pay Recurring Jobs" from Starter up: "Give clients with recurring jobs the option to pay their invoices automatically by card."1 The help center explains how it works and then narrows it. When a client pays a recurring-job invoice online they can tick "Pay future invoices automatically"; from then on the saved card is charged on each future invoice's due date, but "only... if the job has been marked complete and the invoice has been sent," and a failed charge triggers an email plus a retry "every 24 hours up to 3 times."9 Then the note at the bottom: "Auto-payment for Recurring Jobs is only supported with the Stripe Payments add-on (not available to new customers)."9 And the ServiceM8 Pay migration guide confirms it from the other side: opted-in auto-payments "will not carry over with the change from the Stripe Payments add-on to ServiceM8 Pay, as this feature is not supported with ServiceM8 Pay."10

Read together: a new US shop on ServiceM8 Pay has no automatic billing for recurring work at all. Even a legacy Stripe account only gets per-visit invoice charging, which is a different thing from a prepaid plan year with a renewal date.

No membership object, and the market proves it

I searched ServiceM8's help center for "membership," "maintenance plan" and "service plan" on September 2, 2026 and got no articles, and the pricing page's add-on list has no such item.1 The clearer evidence is who sells the missing piece. Service Plan Pro is a paid add-on "built for ServiceM8 businesses": memberships, e-signed agreements, Stripe billing, failed-payment recovery and auto-created job cards in the ServiceM8 dispatch board, at $29 a month for up to 100 active subscriptions, $59 for 500 and $99 unlimited.11 PPM Service Contracts is listed as an official ServiceM8 add-on and covers contract lifecycles, renewals, asset records and Stripe contract payments.16 Two vendors charging for the same gap is the market telling you the gap is real.

What still needs a spreadsheet

  • The agreement itself: plan, price, tier, start date, renewal date.
  • Visits owed vs delivered per covered unit, so you know who's due before the plan year runs out.
  • The card on file and what happens when a card fails at renewal. Nothing in ServiceM8 renews an agreement.
  • Member discount entitlement, so the tech quoting a repair knows the customer gets 15% off.
  • Per-asset coverage. Asset Management (Growing and up) tracks details, location and service history of equipment,17 which is the right record for the furnace, but it doesn't know the furnace is on a plan.

The columns for that sheet, with the visits-at-risk filter, are in how to track HVAC maintenance agreements, and the sheet itself is free here.

Five workarounds inside ServiceM8

  1. One Reminders-type recurring job per agreement, per visit. Set a 6-month pattern on a "Tune-up" job template so each visit lands in the Inbox a week ahead.8 The Inbox becomes your who's-due list. It won't tell you a visit was skipped, so pair it with step 5.
  2. Put the covered equipment in Asset Management. Growing and up. Model, serial and service history live on the asset, and you can bulk-import from a CSV, so your existing sheet seeds it.17
  3. Badge the client. Apply a "Maintenance plan" badge (with the tier in the name) on the client card so techs and the office see membership status on every job. Badges is a built-in add-on you switch on under Features and Integrations.18
  4. Bill the plan as its own job. Create an annual recurring "Plan renewal" job whose only line is the membership fee. It gives the renewal a date and an invoice; it still doesn't charge a card unless you're a legacy Stripe account with the client opted in.9
  5. Run a monthly due-list. Once a month, filter the sheet for agreements in their last 60 days with a visit still owed, and for renewals due in the next 30. The ones you miss are the ones that lapse silently.

One budgeting note that's specific to ServiceM8: agreement visits are job cards, so they spend job credits. 150 agreements at two visits a year is 300 extra jobs a year, and they bunch in spring and fall. A shop that sits at 120 jobs a month on Growing can clear the 150 cap in tune-up season and get the 7-day-then-upgrade prompt, which is a $70 step to Premium.1 You can step back down afterwards with a pro-rata credit, but only if someone remembers to.

Running the agreement program beside ServiceM8 (US shops)

This is the part I have a product in, so weigh it accordingly. Deepsel is maintenance-agreement software that works beside ServiceM8. It owns the pieces in the spreadsheet list above and nothing else: the agreement ledger (plan, tier, covered equipment, visits owed vs delivered, card on file, renewal date), renewal billing on a card on file with retries and a flag when a card fails, and a seasonal reminder email to every member who's due (a text on Pro), carrying your ServiceM8 online-booking link or your phone number so the member books their own visit.

There is no ServiceM8 integration, and I'd rather say so plainly than imply one. You import your client list from ServiceM8's export or from your sheet, and when a member books, the office creates the job in ServiceM8 the way it does today. ServiceM8 stays the system for jobs, dispatch and invoices. Deepsel is $79 a month on Starter ($790 a year) and $159 on Pro (coming soon), unlimited users, no percentage of your membership revenue, billed in USD and built for US shops; details on the pricing page. If you're in Australia, New Zealand or the UK, Service Plan Pro and PPM above are built for your market, and I'd look there first.

14-day free trial. No credit card required.

Frequently asked questions

How much is ServiceM8 per month?

As of September 2, 2026: Free $0 (1 user, 30 jobs), Starter $29 (50 jobs), Growing $79 (150 jobs), Premium $149 (500 jobs), Premium Plus $349 (1,500+ jobs), all with unlimited users on the paid plans. USD in the US, the same figures in AUD including GST in Australia.1, 2 Card processing, SMS overage and ServiceM8 Phone (from $19) are extra.

Is ServiceM8 free?

There's a permanent Free plan for solo operators: one user, 30 new jobs a month, 10 AI uses a day, texts at 10¢ each, and a bonus job credit for every card payment you take through ServiceM8, with no cap on bonuses.3 Separately, every plan has a 14-day trial with unlimited jobs and all add-ons, no card required.4

Does ServiceM8 charge per user?

No. Paid plans include unlimited logins; only Free is capped at one user. ServiceM8's own help center: "There are no contracts, setup fees or 'per-user' fees, and you can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time."5

What happens if I go over my ServiceM8 job limit?

You get 7 more days of normal use. If your billing cycle resets in that time, your credits reset; if not, you're prompted to upgrade.1 A credit is spent when a job card is created, quote or work order; converting an accepted quote to a work order doesn't spend another.

What does ServiceM8 charge for card payments?

ServiceM8 Pay in the US: 3.05% + 30¢ domestic, 4.60% + 30¢ international, $15 per dispute, all plans. Australia: 2.10% + 30c on Free down to 1.49% + 30c on Premium and Premium Plus.6 The legacy Stripe Payments add-on was 3.10% + 30¢ in the US and isn't offered to new customers.7, 9

Does ServiceM8 have maintenance plans or memberships?

No. It has recurring jobs and reminders on every plan and asset records from Growing up, but no object for the agreement: no plan price, visits owed, renewal date or member discount. Third-party add-ons (Service Plan Pro, PPM Service Contracts) sell that piece, and most small shops run a spreadsheet beside ServiceM8.11, 16

Do ServiceM8 recurring jobs bill automatically?

Only for legacy accounts on the Stripe Payments add-on, where a client can opt in to have each recurring-job invoice charged on its due date, with three retries if the card fails. ServiceM8 says the feature is "not available to new customers" and "not supported with ServiceM8 Pay."9, 10 Nothing in ServiceM8 prepays a plan year or renews an agreement.

How do ServiceM8 shops track maintenance agreements?

A sheet with one row per agreement, plus Reminders-type recurring jobs so each visit surfaces in the Inbox a week ahead (the five workarounds above). Shops that want billing automated add Service Plan Pro or PPM; US shops can run the program in Deepsel beside ServiceM8. For the wider comparison of how each field-service platform handles agreements, see the best HVAC maintenance agreement software, compared by shop size.
